               Objective: To understand the concept of perimeter of a closed figure.

               materials required: A geoboard, strings of different colour and a ruler

               Procedure:

                   Š Divide the class into pairs and choose any pair randomly.
                   Š Give a piece of thread to one partner and instruct him/her to make a square on

                   a geoboard as shown below.





















                   Š Now, the other  partner  will  remove  the thread,  hold the thread carefully  from
                   both ends  and  measure  the length of  the thread with  the help  of  a ruler  as

                   shown below.

                   Š The length of the thread will be the perimeter of the square.
                   Š Repeat the activity for different closed planes figures like rectangles and triangles,

                   etc. with different pairs of students.
                   Š Ask the pairs to make a shape of a given perimeter. Give points to the pair who

                   does it correctly.
