              Ascending order and descending order

Ascending or increasing order means arranging the numbers from the smallest to the
              greatest.

example 3: Arrange the following numbers in ascending order:
                                 32,656; 32,352; 32,682; 32,082
Solution: First, we arrange the given numbers in the tth th H T O

place value chart and then start comparing. 3 2 6 5 6 iii
                              32,082 is the smallest number and 32,682 is 3 2 3 = 5 < 2 ii

                            the greatest number. 3 2 6 8 2 iv
                                                                                               2
                                                                                                         8
                                                                                                    0
                                                                                                               2
                                                                                                                     i
                                                                                         3
Also, 32,352 is smaller than 32,656.
                                                                                       Same Same
                            So, 32,082 < 32,352 < 32,656 < 32,682.
                Descending or decreasing order means
arranging numbers from the greatest to Challenge Question Critical Thinking

                                                                                                          5
                              8,78,956 is the greatest number and 3 5 6 0 5 iii
                            4,356 is the smallest number. 8 7 < 8 9 5 6 i
                            Also, 67,897 is greater than 35,605. 6 7 8 9 7 ii

                            So, 8,78,956 > 67,897 > 35,605 > 4,356.
