Conversion of Years, MontHs, Weeks and daYs

              example: Convert the following.

                    (a) 2 years into days (b) 6 weeks 2 days into days

                    (c) 4 months 17 days into days (d) 3 years 7 months into months

              Solution: (a) 1 year = 365 days
                                   2 years = 365 × 2 = 730 days

                             (b) 6 weeks 2 days = 6 weeks + 2 days Challenge Question
                                                     = 6 × 7 days + 2 days If today is Wednesday, what

= 42 days + 2 days day of the week will it be 100
                                                                                    days later?
                                                     = 44 days
                             (c) 4 months 17 days = 4 months + 17 days = 4 × 30 days + 17 days

                                                        = 120 days + 17 days = 137 days
                             (d) 3 years 7 months = 3 years + 7 months = 3 × 12 months + 7 months

                                                        = 36 months + 7 months = 43 months

              CalCulating daYs

While calculating days, we need to remember the number of days a particular month
              has.

example 1: How many days are there between 20th January and 28th February?
Solution: January has 31 days and February has 28 days.

                             So, 20th January to 31st January = 31 – 20 = 11 days
                             and 1st February to 28th February = 28 – 1 = 27 days.

So, the total number of days between 20th January and 28th February
                             = 11 + 27 = 38 days.

example 2: Indian Premier League (IPL)–2024 started on 22nd March 2024 and
ended on 26th May 2025. For how many days did the competition continue?

Solution: March has 31 days, April has 30 days and Here, we subtract 21, instead
May has 31 days. of 22 because the IPL started
22nd March to 31st March from 22nd March and ended

                             = 31 – 21 = 10 days on 26th May, so both the
1 April to 30 April = 30 days first and the last days are

                             1 May to 26 May = 26 days included.
                             Total number of days = 10 + 30 + 26 = 66 days

Thus, the competition continued for 66 days.
