example 2: Subtract `197.85 from `321. ` 7 8 0 . 4 0

Solution: Arrange the given amounts in columns. As there 11 10 9
are no paise in the amount of `321, we put 00 in 2 1 0 10 10
place of paise. Then carry out simple subtraction ` 3 2 1 . 0 0

example 3: Mr Gupta purchased a pair of shoes worth `2256.75, a shirt worth
`1353.25, a pair of trousers worth `1734.50 and a tie worth `500.75. How much
money did he spend in all?

Solution:

Hence, Mr Gupta spent `5845.25 in all.

example 4: Mr Verma had `7000. He spent `4865.75 on buying a table and two
chairs. How much money is left with him?

Solution:
