                       Practice time 2b

                1. Fill in the blanks.

                    (a) _____ + 499 = 500 (b) 999 + _____ = 1000

                    (c) 2436 + 0 = _____ (d) _____ + 5364 = 5364

                    (e) 1796 + _____ = 1796 (f) _____ + 1 = 10000

                    (g) 345 + 246 = _____ + 345 (h) 2736 + _____ = 4021 + 2736

                2. Split the smaller number to add the following:

                    (a) 62 + 46 (b) 145 + 27 (c) 314 + 134 (d) 20 + 58

                    (e) 204 + 536 (f) 88 + 111 (g) 534 + 201 (h) 104 + 305

                3. Split the greater number to add the following:

                    (a) 69 + 30 (b) 22 + 42 (c) 156 + 27 (d) 148 + 214

                    (e) 395 + 168 (f) 19 + 444 (g) 368 + 264 (h) 274 + 304

                4. Split both the numbers to add the following:

                    (a) 35 + 20 (b) 61 + 27 (c) 154 + 132 (d) 119 + 244

                    (e) 272 + 116 (f) 58 + 248 (g) 455 + 105 (h) 340 + 89

                5. Add by splitting the second number into hundreds, tens and ones.

                    (a) 127 + 142 (b) 546 + 122 (c) 371 + 208 (d) 246 + 836

              addition word Problems

example: A trade fair is held at Pragati Maidan. In the first week, 72,725 people
visited the trade fair while in the second week, 96,321 people visited. How many

people went to the trade fair in the two weeks?

              Solution: Number of visitors in the 1st week = 72,725 L tth th H T O

                                                                                             1 1
                         Number of visitors in the 2nd week = 96,321 7 2 7 2 5

Total number of visitors to the trade fair in the + 9 6 3 2 1

                           two weeks = 72,725 + 96,321 = 1,69,046 1 6 9 0 4 6

Thus, 1,69,046 people visited the trade fair in the two weeks.
