rePresentation of decimal nUmbers on a Place valUe chart
We know that when we move from right to left in the place value chart, the value of the
respective place increases 10 times.
Also, we can say that when we move from left to right in the place value chart, the value
of the respective place decreases 10 times.
Now, if we extend the place value chart to the right of the ones place, the place value at
the places to the right of the ones place will be fractional. The place value of the immediate
right place after the ones place is tenths 1 and to the right of the tenths place, the
10
place value is hundredths 1 and so on.
