Example: Find the predecessor and the successor of the following numbers:

( a) 3463688 (b) 93643085
Solution:

( a) The predecessor of 3463688 = 3463688 – 1 = 3463687.

The successor of 3463688 = 3463688 + 1 = 3463689.

( b) The predecessor of 93643085 = 93643085 – 1 = 93643084.

The successor of 93643085 = 93643085 + 1 = 93643086.
