The rapid growth in the population of India is putting immense pressure on resources and
is contributing to environmental degradation, poverty and social unrest. The government
has taken some steps to address this problem, but much more needs to be done. As
per the Census of 2011, the populations of four metropolitan cities are given below:
1. Mumbai – 12,478,447 2. Delhi – 11,034,555
3. Bengaluru – 8,443,675 4. Hyderabad – 6,809,970
Arrange the cities in ascending and descending order according to their population.
Find the least and most populated cities in our country with the help of the internet.
Also, write the populations of these cities in words.
Take a blank political map of India and colour these cities on it.
