                                   Learning by Doing

Objective: To show the correct time

Materials required: Round paper plates (numbers 1 to 12 written
on it along the boundary at equal gaps), two cardboard strips of

              different lengths and glue stick.
Note: The length of each strip must be less than the radius of the paper plate.

              Procedure:

Š Divide the class into groups of two.
Š Each group should have 5 paper plates (numbers 1 to 12 written on it) and

5 sets of cardboard strips (each set contains two strips of different lengths).

Š The teacher calls out a time, say 3 o’clock.
Š The group takes one set of cardboard strips and pastes the

smaller strip on the paper plate from centre of it pointing to 3 10 11 12 1 2
                      (as shown) 9 3

Š Then the group takes the bigger strip and pastes it on the paper 8 7 6 5 4
plate from centre to number 12 (as shown). 3 o’clock

Š In the same way, the teacher calls out 4 more time and the group or 3:00
shows the correct time using paper plates and cardboard strips.
