Learning by Doing
Objective: To understand that an amount can be made in many ways.
Materials Required: Play-money (coins and notes) of different
denominations, a sheet of paper and a pencil
Procedure:
The teacher places the play-money, paper sheet and pencil on the table.
Divide the class into pairs and call a pair to perform.
The teacher calls out an amount, say `35.
Each member of the pair has to make `35 in different ways. For example:

The pair repeats the same for different amounts called by the teacher.
They also record the activity on a sheet of paper.

Make your own savings bank (gullak) using a spare box
or jar with the help of your siblings or elders.
Save your pocket money to present a gift to your
parents/grandparents on their special day.
