              MulTIPlIcATION As REPEATED ADDITION

An autorickshaw has 3 tyres. Here are 4 autorickshaws.
How many tyres can you see in all?

              Clearly, 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12

Repeated addition of the same number can be done by multiplication.
We say that, 3 added 4 times is equal to 12.

Or, 4 times 3 is equal to 12.

              And, we write:
                     4 × 3 = 12 read as, “4 into 3 is equal to 12.”

Or, 4 multiplied by 3 is equal to 12.

                     ' ×' stands for multiplication.

                                             4 × 3 = 12 is a multiplication fact.
