Objective: To understand the concept of grouping in tens and
comparing numbers.
Materials required: Pebbles, plastic bag, number cards 1–20,
pencil and notebook
Procedure:
Divide the class into groups of 4 students. The groups will be instructed to
collect 20 pebbles each.
Student 1 of the group will pick up a number card, for example, 14.
Student 2 will count and take out the same number of pebbles, 14.
Next, fill the plastic bag with 10 pebbles and keep the remaining 4 loose.
Now, students 3 and 4 will repeat the similar steps to form another number.
Hence, they will compare the two numbers picked up.
Continue the activity till all the students get a chance to display the numbers
by grouping in tens and ones as well as comparing two numbers.
