from 2-digit numbers

Example: A fruit seller had 38 apples. He sold
8 apples out of it. How many apples were left

with him?
Solution: To know the number of apples

left with the fruit seller, we need to subtract
8 from 38.

Step 1. First subtract the ones. Step 2. Then, subtract the tens.

Thus, the fruit seller is left with 30 apples.
