difference between a cube and a cuboid

 In a cuboid, the opposite rectangular faces are of the same shape and size, whereas
in a cube, all square faces are of the same shape and size.

 In a cube, all the edges are equal, whereas in a cuboid, the edges can be of different sizes.

                       Quick Check
Identify the solid shapes that you see in each of the following objects:

We can draw 3D shapes like cubes, and cuboids, on a dotted sheet. There are two different
sheets – square dot sheet and isometric dot sheet. An isometric sheet is a special paper
with dots at equal distance, which help us to draw 3D shapes.

Let us draw a cube on a square dot sheet.

Draw a square on the sheet. Draw another square as shown. Join the corners.

teacher’s Tell the students about the difference between 2D and 3D shapes with the help of different kinds of 2D or 3D
tip shaped objects. Encourage them to draw a cuboid on a square dot sheet using rectangles. Hence, explain how
to draw a cube and a cuboid with proportional lengths on an isometric sheet.
