              Solution:

After observing the calendar, we find that,

                   (a) The date of the first Monday in August is 4th August.

                   (b) The date of the 3rd Monday in March is 17th March.

                   (c) The date of the last Friday in July is 25th July.

                   (d) The last day of the third week after May 3 is the 24th of May.

                   (e) The day after 5 days of December 11 is Tuesday.

                    (f) The day before one week of June 1 is Sunday.

              Conversion of units of time

Kushal is having a test at school.

teacher: You have only 15 minutes left to complete the test.

Kushal: Ma’am, what is the duration of our test in minutes?

teacher: The test is of 1 hour 15 minutes, i.e., 75 minutes.

              Kushal: How?

              teacher: Since 1 hour = 60 minutes

                            So, 1 hour and 15 minutes = 1 hour + 15 minutes

                                                                  = 60 minutes + 15 minutes

                                                                  = 75 minutes

Observe the relationships between the units of time.

                      1 hour = 60 minutes 1 month = 30 days

                      1 day = 24 hours 1 year = 12 months
                      1 week = 7 days 1 year = 365 days

example 1: Mohit practised cricket for 180 minutes. For how many hours did he play
              cricket?
              Solution: 60 minutes = 1 hour

                             180 minutes = 180 ÷ 60 = 3 hours
Thus, Mohit practised cricket for 3 hours.
