                                                         5 5 5 5 5
Example 4: Arrange the fractions , , ,, in descending order.
                                                        6 10 8 7 9
Solution: Since, the numerators of the given fractions are same, so, the fraction
with greater denominator will be the smaller fraction.

                             Comparing denominators of the given fractions, 10 > 9 > 8 > 7 > 6.

                                                                                     5 5 5 5 5
                             Thus, the fractions in descending order are: > > > > .
                                                                                     6 7 8 9 10

              Addition of Like fractions

              Look at the given diagram.
                               +
                   2 1 21 3 + =
              So, + = = 2 1 3
                   5 5 5 5 5 5 5
We observe that the resultant fraction has the sum of numerators of two given

              fractions and the same denominator.
Thus, to add like fractions, we follow these steps.

                  Step 1: Add the numerators.

Step 2: Keep the common denominator same.
Step 3: Reduce the fraction to its simplest form or convert it into mixed fraction,
                            if required.
