Perspective means viewing or drawing 3D objects on 2D surfaces showing the
impression of length, width, depth, distance, etc.

When an object is viewed from different directions, it looks like a plane shape. Let
us have a look at the 3D shape given below.

Thus, Plans and elevations (views) are a way of representing a 3-dimensional object.
We usually have three views of a 3D shape as given below.

• Plan view: Looking down on the shape from the above is called the plan or top view.
• Side view: Viewing the shape from the side is called the side view.

• Front view: Viewing the shape from the front is called the front view.
