Conversion of fractions into percentages: Conversion of decimals into percentages:

Learning by Doing
Objective: To reinforce the concept of percentage.
Materials Required: A sheet of square paper, crayons, pencils and scale (One per
child)
Procedure:
Instruct the students to mark 100 squares on the paper.
Pose a situation to the students. For example, ’Following vegetables
are grown on a piece of land by a farmer as per the given percentage.
Potato: 18%; Onion: 22%; Tomato: 40%; and Capsicum: 20%,
and estimate the plantation area occupied by each variety of
vegetables.
Ask the students to colour the square paper according to the
percentages of the vegetables they want to grow.
