                                   Learning by Doing






              Objective: To get plane shapes from solid shapes.

              Materials Required: Pencil box, water bottle, dice, cut-outs of traffic signs
              and sheets of paper

              Procedure:

                     Š Take a sheet of paper and put one of the above solids, say

                      pencil box on it.

                     Š  Draw the outline of the pencil box along its side.

                     Š What shape do you get? Rectangle.
                     Š In the same way, place other solids one-by-one on different

                      sheets of paper and trace the outlines of the base of these objects.

                     Š Record your observation as given below.
