              Subtraction StorieS

Example 1: There were 9 cupcakes in a basket.

4 cupcakes were eaten. How many

                              cupcakes are left?

              Solution: 9 – 4 = 5 9
                                                                                  – 4
Thus, 5 cupcakes are left. 5

Example 2: Mala has 8 marbles. Arpita has 5 marbles.

Who has more marbles and by how many?

              Solution: Mala :

                              Arpita : 8
                                                                                       – 5
Thus, Mala has 3 marbles more. 3
