To find the double, we add the number twice or multiply by 2.
              examples: Remember

              (a) Double of 3 = 3 + 3 = 6 or 3 × 2 = 6 Any number multiplied by:

              (b) Double of 4 = 4 + 4 = 8 or 4 × 2 = 8 l 0 is equal to 0.
l 1 is equal to the number itself.
              (c) Double of 5 = 5 + 5 = 10 or 5 × 2 = 10 l 2 is equal to double the number.

                   activity

                Make a 3 × 4 grid for playing ‘Bingo’.
                Fill the boxes of the grid with any 12 numbers taking from × 1 2 3 4 5 6
                the given chart. 1 1 2 3 4 5 6
                Numbers can be repeated. 2 2 4 6 8 10 12
                Let one child throw a pair of dice and say the 3 3 6 9 12 15 18
                product of the number of dots appearing 4 4 8 12 16 20 24
                on the dice. Other children will cross the 5 5 10 15 20 25 30

                number on their grid. Continue this till the 6 6 12 18 24 30 36
                child crosses all the numbers.
The child who crosses out all the numbers will say aloud Bingo!

                       Practice Time 5C

              1. fill in the boxes.

                   (a) 1 × 2 = (b) 1 × 5 = (c) 5 × 1 =

                   (d) 1 × 8 = (e) 9 × 0 = (f) 7 × 1 =

                   (g) 1 × 1 = (h) 0 × 3 = (i) 3 × 2 =

              2. fill the missing numbers.

                   (a) 3 × 4 = 4 × (b) 5 × 6 = 6 × (c) 2 × 5 = 5 ×

                   (d) 4 × 5 = 5 × (e) 3 × 7 = × 3 (f) 2 × 6 = × 2

                   (g) 2 × 8 = × 2 (h) 7 × 4 = × 7 (i) × 5 = 5 × 8

              3. find the double of the following. One has been done for you.

                   (a) Double of 7 = 7 × 2 = 14 (b) Double of 6 = 6 × 2 =

                   (c) Double of 8 = 8 × 2 = (d) Double of 9 = 9 × 2 =

                   (e) Double of 10 = 10 × 2 = (f) Double of 1 = 1 × 2 =
