              VertICAL MULtIPLICAtION

Vertical multiplication is another way to multiply the numbers. In this method, we

write a number below another number.
                                                                                              t O
              Let us find 6 × 2. 6 Multiplicand

                                                                                          × 2 Multiplier
              We can write 6 × 2 = 12 as shown alongside.
                                                                                              1 2 Product
                  Multiplicand

                             Multiplier Product
The number to be multiplied is called the multiplicand and the number by which

it is multiplied is called the multiplier. The answer is called the product.

example: A car has 4 wheels. If there are 8

cars in a parking lot, how many wheels are Think and Answer
There are errors in the given
there in all? multiplication grid. Spot the boxes
Solution: with errors and correct them.

                                                              t O × 1 2 3 4 5
                            Wheels in a car = 4 6 6 14 16 24 48
                            Cars in the parking lot = × 8 7 8 18 21 28 25

                            Wheels in all = 3 2 8 8 19 26 48 40

                            Thus, there are 32 wheels in all. 9 9 18 35 36 55
