SoLid ShaPES
We are familiar with the shapes of a cube, cuboid, cylinder, cone and sphere. These
are called solid shapes or 3D shapes. Let us learn something more about these shapes.
Cube: The figure given below is a cube. Some examples of a cube are
• A cube has 6 faces, shown below.
12 edges and 8 vertices.
• All the edges of a cube are
of the same length.
• All its faces are of the
same size.
Cuboid: The figure given below is a cuboid. Some examples of a cuboid are

• Its opposite faces are
equal.
Cylinder: The figure given below is a cylinder. Given below are some examples
• A cylinder has 3 faces of cylinders.

Cone: The figure given below is a cone. Given below are some examples
