MeasureMent of weight (Mass)
Divya invites her friend Mansi to her house. Divya’s
mother is preparing cup cakes. Divya observes how
her mother measures the ingredients.
4 cups flour 6 teaspoons butter
4 tablespoons milk 6 cups powdered sugar
1 glass butter milk 4 eggs
2 bowls dry fruits 3 tablespoons fruit extract
Divya’s mother whisks all the ingredients well and bake
them. When the cup cake is ready, she puts 2 pinch of
sprinkles on each cup cake.
Divya noticed that her mother measured the mass of ingredients using cups,
tablespoon, teaspoon, pinch, bowl, glass, etc.
Cups, glasses, bowls and spoons can be of different shapes and sizes. Pinch measured
by thumb and finger can also be different. So, measuring mass in terms of these
units are not fixed.
