                                   Learning by Doing

Objective: To estimate the length, weight and capacity and compare.
              Materials Required:

For length: A paint-brush, water bottle or any other things

For weight: A toothpaste packet, soap or any other things on which weights are

              mentioned
For capacity: A cold-drink bottle/can, a juice packet or any other things on which

              capacity is mentioned
              Procedure:

Š The students perform the activity in pairs.

Š One member guesses the length of a paint-brush and write its estimated

                      length.
Š The other member measures the actual length of the paint-brush using a

                      centimetre ruler and write it.

Š Now, the first member takes a toothpaste packet in his/her hand and guesses
its weight. He/she write its estimated weight.

Š The other member reads the weight mentioned on the toothpaste packet

                      and write it.
Š Now, the first member takes a soft-drink bottle and write its estimated capacity.

Š The other member reads the capacity of the soft-drink bottle mentioned on

                      it and write it.
Š Similarly, the length, weight and capacity of other objects can be estimated

                      and compared with actual measurement.
