Expanded Form and Short Form of a Number
The expanded form of a number is the sum of the place values of its digits.
The short form of a number is the numeral that is written using face value of the
digits.
Look at the following numbers.
(a) H T O Place (b) H T O Place

Expanded form: 500 + 0 + 7 Expanded form: 200 + 60 + 9
Or 5 hundreds + 0 tens + 7 ones Or 2 hundreds + 6 tens + 9 ones
