When the digits in the hundreds place is same, then compare the digits in the
tens place.
example 3: Compare 467 and 429.
Solution:
H T O H T O The number with the greater digit
4 6 7 4 2 9 in the tens place is greater.
4 = 4
6 > 2 So, 467 > 429 or 429 < 467
When the digits in the hundreds and tens places are same, then compare the
digits in the ones place.
example 4: Compare 782 and 780.
Solution:
H T O H T O The number with greater digit in
7 8 2 7 8 0 ones place is greater.
7 = 7
8 = 8
2 > 0 So, 782 > 780 or 780 < 782
