ADDITION FACTS

We know that addition means putting together.
Madhu had 6 plants in her balcony. She brought 3 more plants. Can you say how

many plants are there now? 6

Here, we need to add the numbers 6 and 3. + 3
She has 9 plants now. 9

The sign of addition is ‘+’ (plus). The numbers to be added are called addends and

the answer is called the sum.

So, 6 + 3 = 9 This is an addition fact.

Properties of Addition

Adding 0 to a Number

When we add 0 to a number, we get the same
number as the answer. Think and Answer

(a) 5 + 0 = 5 (b) 82 + 0 = 82 Each object has a hidden number
under it. Find out the numbers

When we add 1 to a given number, the sum is + = 12

Order in Addition

When we add two numbers in any order, we get the same sum each time.
