                       Practice Time 2b

Find the sum of the following.

              1. t O 2. t O 3. t O 4. t O

                       1 4 2 0 2 0 5 1
                   + 3 2 + 1 2 + 2 6 + 1 2

              5. t O 6. t O 7. t O 8. t O

                       5 4 4 1 2 4 6 4
                       1 2 2 0 3 2 1 2
                   + 1 1 + 2 6 + 1 3 + 1 3

              reGrOuPING OF NumberS

Mishti is playing with blocks. Her friend Drishti
joins her to play making tens with ones.

They know that 10 ones make 1 ten.

                          10 ones 1 ten

Mishti takes 18 blocks. She regroups 18 blocks in

              the following arrangement.

                                                                                                    Note
18 ones 1 ten 8 ones When we have more
                                                                                           than 9 ones, we regroup
                          t O t O 10 ones into 1 ten.
                               18 1 8

              That is, 18 ones = 10 ones + 8 ones = 1 ten 8 ones.

teacher’s Demonstrate the regrouping of numbers into tens and ones with the help of blocks/dots/circles/shapes.
