                                   Learning by Doing

Objective: To understand the concept of addition.

Materials required: A dice, a sheet of paper and a pencil

              Procedure:

Š Perform the activity in pairs.

Š Each pair gets the above materials and sits around
                      a table.

Š One member of the pair throws the dice twice.

Š He/she notes the digits (number appeared on the
top face of the dice) and forms a 2-digit number

                      with these digits.

Š Now, it is the turn of the second member of the pair. He/she also throws the
dice twice and forms a 2-digit number with the digits (number appeared on
the top face of the dice).

Š At last, the pair adds the two 2-digit numbers to find the sum.

Note: If they need to regroup the tens place, skip it and try again with another
              number.

                     Brain Sizzlers

Do you know that the opposite sides of a dice add up
to the number 7? Look at the faces of dice and find the
sum of dots on their opposite faces.
