Riya bought a bunch of one dozen bananas. She wants to distribute these bananas among

3 monkeys, so, the share of each monkey will be of the collection. For this, she divides

the bunch into three equal parts as shown.
1 means 1 out of 3 equal parts, i.e., one-third of 12 bananas is 4 bananas.

So, of 12 = 4 or 12 ÷ 3 = 4 .

i.e., one-third of 12 bananas is 4 bananas.
Thus, each monkey gets 4 bananas.
