              types of Patterns

There are various types of patterns, such as repeating, increasing, decreasing, changing

direction, a combination of all these, number patterns, etc. There are some rules followed
              by each type of pattern.

                  • Pattern in Shape

Increasing shape pattern Decreasing shape pattern

rule: The shape grows each time by rule: The shape decreases each time
one following the shape . by one.

                  • Pattern in Size

Increasing pattern in size Decreasing pattern in size

rule: The size of a circle is increased rule: The size of a square is reduced
                     gradually. gradually.

                  • Increasing pattern in number as well • Changing direction pattern

                   as in size

rule: One circle of bigger size is added each rule: There is a change in direction and

                     time. repetition in the pattern.

                  • Combination of pattern

                                                                           Project

Nature is full of patterns and some natural
rule: This pattern follows a repetition, objects or creatures are symmetrical too.
changing direction and increases in Observe and draw any three symmetrical
natural things, that makes a pattern.
                     number.

                       Think and Answer
Observe the pattern and colour the next squares.
