As explained earlier, the hour hand goes twice round the dial in one day. So, it shows the

same time twice in a day.

• The time from 12 o’clock midnight to 12 o’clock noon is shown by the small letters
‘a.m.’ (ante meridiem).

• The time from 12 o’clock noon to 12 o’clock midnight is shown by the small letters
‘p.m.’ (post meridiem).
