              example 1: Multiply `16.25 by 5.
                                                                                                       3 1 2
              Solution: Step 1. Multiply the given amount by the number ignoring ` 1 6 . 2 5
                                      the dot (.). × 5

                                       1625 × 5 = 8125 ` 8 1 . 2 5
Step 2. Put a dot in the product after the second digit counting from the right.

                                       8125 81.25
                            Thus, `16.25 × 5 = `81.25

example 2: Shweta bought a pen for `5.75. What will be the cost of 6 such pens?
                                                                   4 3
              Solution: Cost of 1 pen = ` 5 . 7 5
                          Number of pens = × 6

                          Total cost of 6 pens = ` 3 4 . 5 0 ` 5.75

Thus, the cost of 6 such pens is `34.50.

example 3: An envelope in the post office costs `5.50. What is the cost of 8 such
              envelopes?

              Solution: 4

                             Cost of 1 envelope = ` 5 . 5 0
                             Number of envelopes = × 8

                             Cost of 8 envelopes = ` 4 4 . 0 0

Thus, the cost of 8 envelopes is `44.

              division of Money

Division of money is similar to the division of ordinary numbers.

Step 1. Divide the given amount by the given number, ignoring dot (.).
Step 2. Then, put a dot after the second digit counting from the right in the quotient.

              example 4: Divide `50.30 by 5.

Solution: Step 1. Divide 5030 by 5. Think and Answer
