              Multiplication by a 2-Digit nuMber

              Multiplication of a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number


              Example 1: Multiply 42 by 12.
              Solution:  On expanding the multiplier, we find 12 = 10 + 2 = 1 ten and 2 ones. So, we
                          multiply the multiplicand 42 by 2 ones and 1 ten step by step as shown below.

                           Step 1:  Multiply 42 by 2 ones.

                               42 × 2 ones = 84 ones                                         H t O
