Objective: To reinforce the concept of multiplication facts.
Materials Required: Some thin wooden sticks (10 sticks), glue
Procedure:
Put 4 sticks vertically.
On the above of these sticks, put one stick horizontally, as shown in the
given figure and paste them. Count the points where the horizontal and
vertical sticks meet. There are 4 points.
Thus, 4 × 1 = 4
Paste one more stick horizontally, as shown in the figure and count the
points again. Now, there are 8 points of intersection.
So, 4 + 4 = 8 or 4 × 2 = 8
Now, paste one more stick horizontally and count the points of
intersection. Here are 12 points of intersection.
So, 4 + 4 + 4 = 12 or 4 × 3 = 12
In the same way, many multiplications facts can be obtained.
