SimpleSt Form (loweSt termS) oF a Fraction

When the numerator and denominator of a fraction have no common factors other

than 1, then the fraction is said to be in its simplest form.

example 1: Is 18 in its simplest form?
                                21
              Solution: Factors of numerator 18 are: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and 18.

                            Factors of denominator 21 are: 1, 3, 7 and 21.
Here, common factors of 18 and 21 are: 1 and 3.

Thus, 18 is not in its simplest form.
