Learning by Doing
Objective: To reinforce the concept of equivalent fractions.
Materials required: Squared papers and coloured sketch pens.
Procedure: (This activity will perform individually.)
Take two sheets of plain paper.
Fold it neatly into two equal halves. Mark the fold.
Now colour one half of each of the paper with different
colours as shown alongside. 1 1
Write the fraction of the coloured part for each sheet. 2 2
Now take the first sheet. Fold it into four equal parts.
Mark the folds.
Again write the fraction of the coloured part for each 2 1
sheet. Observe the fractions obtained. 4 2

You can also fold the first sheet to represent the fractions , and .

Try different fractions by taking more sheets of paper.
For example, 1 = 2 = 3 ; 5 = 10 = 15
