Objective: To reinforce the concept of polygons in play way using a
geoboard

Materials required: Geoboard (Geoboard is a mathematical tool
which is used to understand the shapes or figures), rubber
bands, dot papers.

Procedure:

Š Students will work in groups.

Š Give them rubber bands and let them form polygons themselves.

Š Each group will try to form polygons having different sides (as shown).

Š Then call up each group to show their boards and ask them questions about

the properties of the polygons.

Š Talk about the special properties of squares and rectangles.

Š If none of the groups have made a square or a rectangle, make one and let

the students observe the properties by themselves.

Take a sheet of paper. Make a square of same size at each corner. Cut
out the squares and keep them aside. Now, fold the flaps so formed upwards and

fix them using a cello tape. What shape do you get?
