              number Patterns

Numbers can also be arranged according to a pattern. Observe the following number
              pattern.

                                                   2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, …
In this pattern, there is a relation between the consecutive numbers in which 2 is

added each time to give the next number.
                                       +2 +2 +2 +2 +2 +2 +2 +2

                                     2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18

              Patterns in addition

                1. Addition of two consecutive numbers

1 + 2 = 3 Observe the pattern in the addition of two

                       2 + 3 = 5 consecutive numbers.
3 + 4 = 7 We see that the sum of two consecutive numbers

                       ___ + ___ = ___ are consecutive odd numbers starting from 3.

                2. Addition of three consecutive numbers

                       1 + 2 + 3 = 6
                       2 + 3 + 4 = 9 Here, we observe that the sum

                       3 + 4 + 5 = 12 of three consecutive numbers are
                                                                      multiples of 3.
                       ___ + ___ + ___ = ___

                3. Addition of four consecutive numbers

                                                                                  Here, we observe that the
                        1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10 sum of four consecutive

                        2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 14 numbers increases by 4 at
                        3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 18 each step. Also, the sum in

                       ____ + ____ + ____ + ____ = ____ each step is twice the sum of

                                                                                the two middle terms.
                4. Addition of five consecutive numbers

                                                                                           Here, we observe
                       1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 15 that the sum of five
                       2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 20 consecutive numbers

                       3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 = 25 are multiples of 5

                      ____ + ____ + ____ + ____ + ____ = ____ starting from 15.
