2. Observe the patterns and write next two steps.
(a) 0 × 9 + 1 = 1 (b) 0 × 9 + 8 = 8
1 × 9 + 2 = 11 9 × 9 + 7 = 88
12 × 9 + 3 = 111 98 × 9 + 6 = 888
123 × 9 + 4 = 1111 987 × 9 + 5 = 8888

.............................................. .............................................
(c) 1 × 8 + 1 = 9 (d) 20000 ÷ 2 = 10000
12 × 8 + 2 = 98 20000 ÷ 20 = 1000
123 × 8 + 3 = 987 20000 ÷ 200 = 100
1234 × 8 + 4 = 9876 ...................................................

3. Fill in the blanks by observing the patterns:
(a) 5 × 5 = 25 (b) 37 × 3 × 1 = 111
55 × 5 = 275 37 × 3 × 2 = 222
_______ × 5 = 2775 37 × 3 × 3 = ____
5555 × _____ = 27775 37 × 3 × 4 = 444
55555 × 5 = _______ 37 × 3 × ___ = 555
4. Study the pattern and fill in the missing numbers:
(a) (b) (c)
21 15 ? 36
32 48
? 9
12 8
3 8
9 5
5 7
tessellations
We often see designs made from tiles on the walls or floors. In such designs, tiles fit
into each other without leaving any gaps or without overlapping. Such tiling pattern
are called tessellations.
Thus, tessellation is a pattern of geometric shapes that fit together perfectly, or fill a
2D space without any gaps or overlaps.
