2. Find the difference:
(a) km m (b) m cm mm (c) km m cm
7 2 1 9 1 5 4 0 3 8 1 5 4 4 6 3 3 1
– 1 8 3 5 7 – 1 0 9 8 9 – 4 6 1 8 7 2 6
3. Write in columns and then solve.
(a) 28 m 65 cm + 7 m 56 cm (b) 53 m 64 cm – 25 m 69 cm
(c) 65 km 45 m 40 cm – 16 km 275 m 18 cm
(d) 29 km 126 m 8 cm + 29 km 77 m 36 cm
4. From a roll of 17 m 16 cm wool, a piece of 8 m 42 cm was cut.
Find the length of wool left in the roll?
5. During a trip Rohan travelled 218 km 325 m by train, 58 km 218 m by bus and
4 km 705 m by car. What was the total distance travelled by Rohan?
6. The total length of the Great Wall of China is measured to be
8851 km 800 m. It is made up of 6259 km 600 m of actual
wall, 359 km 700 m of trenches and the rest of natural barriers
like hills and river. Find the length of the natural barriers that
make up the Great Wall of China.
Measuring weight (Mass)
The base unit to measure weight (mass) is gram (g). Similar to the units of length,
weight can also be measured by other units. The unit of weight (mass) higher than
gram (g) are kilogram (kg), hectogram (hg) and decagram (dag).
1 kg = 10 hg = 100 dag = 1000 g
1 hg = 10 dag = 100 g
1 dag = 10 g Smaller units
×1000
The units of weight (mass) lower than gram are ×1000 ×100
×100
decigram (dg), centigram (cg) and milligram (mg). ×10 ×10
kg hg dag g dg cg mg
1 g = 10 dg = 100 cg = 1000 mg ÷10 ÷10
÷100 ÷100
1 dg = 10 cg = 100 mg ÷1000 ÷1000
1 cg = 10 mg Bigger units
