Objective: To understand the concept of perimeter of a closed figure.
materials required: A geoboard, strings of different colour and a ruler
Procedure:
Divide the class into pairs and choose any pair randomly.
Take a piece of thread to the one member of the pair and instruct him to make a
square on a geoboard as shown below.
Now, another member of the pair will remove the thread and will hold the thread
carefully from both the ends and measure the length of thread with help of the ruler
as shown below.

The length of the thread will be the perimeter of the square.
Repeat the activity for different closed planes figures like rectangles and triangles, etc.
with different pairs of students.
