order by repeating the greatest digit.
example 2: Form the greatest 5-digit number using the digits 5, 6, 9 and 4.
Solution: To form the greatest 5-digit number by using the given four digits, we

So, the greatest 5-digit number formed with the 9 9 6 5 4
given digits is 99,654.
Smallest Number: To form the smallest number, write the given digits in ascending
order and repeat the smallest digit.
example 3: Form the smallest 5-digit number using the digits 7, 0 and 3.
Solution: To form the smallest 5-digit number by using the tth th H t O
given three digits, we repeat the smallest digit 0 3 0 0 0 7
thrice, but after the second smallest digit, that is, 3.
So, the smallest 5-digit number formed with the given digits is 30,007.
example 4: Form the smallest 6-digit number using the digits 6, 1, 4 and 5 by
repeating the digits.
Solution: To form the smallest number we repeat the smallest L tth th H t O

with the given digits is 1,11,456.
