Conversion of Years, MontHs, Weeks and daYs
example: Convert the following.
(a) 2 years into days. (b) 6 weeks 2 days into days.
(c) 4 months 17 days into days. (d) 3 years 7 months into months.
Solution: (a) Since 1 years = 365 days
So, 2 years = 365 × 2 = 730 days.
(b) 6 weeks 2 days = 6 weeks + 2 days
= 6 × 7 days + 2 days
= 42 days + 2 days = 44 days
(c) 4 months 17 days = 4 months + 17 days
= 4 × 30 days + 17 days
= 120 days + 17 days = 137 days
(d) 3 years 7 months = 3 years + 7 months
= 3 × 12 months + 7 months
= 36 months + 7 months = 43 months
CalCulating daYs
While calculating days, we need to remember the number of days present in the
particular months.
example 1: How many days are there between 20th January and 28th February?
Solution: January has 31 days and February has 28 days.
So, 20th January to 31st January
= 31 – 20 = 11 days
and 1st February to 28th February = 28 days
So, the total number of days between 20th January Here, we include
and 28th February the last day.
= 11 + 28 = 39 days.
example 2: Indian Premier League (IPL)–2018 started on 7th April 2018 and ended
on 27th May 2018. For how many days did the competition continue?
Solution: April has 30 days and May has 31 days.
So, 7th April to 30th April Here, we subtract 6, instead
= 30 – 6 = 24 days of 7 because the IPL start
1st May to 27th May = 27 days from 7 April and ends on
Total number of days = 24 + 27 = 51 days 27th may, both first and last
Thus, the competition continues for 51 days. days are included.
