Objective: To explore calendar and calendar patterns.

Materials required: Calendar of any month, paper and pencil.
              Procedure:

Š Divides the class in pairs and asks each pair to choose FeBrUAry ****
any month of calendar, say, Feb 2024. SUN MON tUe Wed tHU Fri SAt
                                                                                                                    3
                     Š Form a 3 × 3 square on the calendar as shown in the 4 5 6 7 1 2 10
                                                                                                                 9
                                                                                                             8
                      picture. 11 12 13 14 15 16 17
                     Š Take the smallest number from the grid and add 8 to 18 19 20 21 22 23 24
                                                                                                            29
                                                                                                    27 28
                                                                                            25 26
                      it.
                     Š Here, 6 + 8 = 14
Š Now, multiply the sum obtained by 9.

                     Š Here, 14 × 9 = 126
Š Add all the numbers of the grid. The result is same.

                     Š 6 + 7 + 8 + 13 + 14 + 15 + 20 + 21 + 22 = 126

Š Repeat the same activity on other month’s calendar and taking grid of 3 × 3 of
any 9 dates by another pairs of students.
