Converting unlike decimals into like decimals, we get 1 1 1
                            11.500 km, 7.750 km and 2.250 km 1 1 • 5 0 0 km
                                                                                                       7 • 7 5 0 km
                            Now, add these distances. + 2 • 2 5 0 km
                            11.500 km + 7.750 km + 2.250 km = 21.500 km = 21.5 km 2 1 • 5 0 0 km

Thus, Suresh travelled 21.5 km in total to reach the office.

example 5: Neha had `356.45 in her digital account. She got `500 on Bhai Dooj from her
brother and her father also gave her `210. How much money does she have in all?
              Solution: Money, Neha had in her digital account = ` 3 5 6 • 4 5
                            She got on Bhai Dooj from her brother = ` 5 0 0 • 0 0

                            Her father gave = + ` 2 1 0 • 0 0

                            Therefore, total money Neha has = ` 1 0 6 6 • 4 5

Thus, Neha has `1066.45 in all.
example 6: Roshmika's mother had 102 kg of wheat flour. She used 26.125 kg of wheat
flour in a month. How much wheat flour is left at the end of the month?

Solution: To find the quantity of wheat flour left, we will find the difference between
                            both quantities as: 102 kg – 26.125 kg 1 0 2 • 0 0 0 kg

                            = 102.000 kg – 26.125 kg = 75.875 kg – 2 6 • 1 2 5 kg
                            Thus, 75.875 kg of wheat flour is left with Roshmika'a mother. 7 5 • 8 7 5 kg

example 7: A fruit vendor had 17.030 kg of mangoes out of which 3.270 kg were rotten.
What is the weight of fresh mangoes?
              Solution: Total weight of mangoes = 1 7 • 0 3 0 kg

                            Weight of rotten mangoes = – 3 • 2 7 0 kg
                            Weight of fresh mangoes = 1 3 • 7 6 0 kg

Thus, the fruit vendor has 13.760 kg of fresh mangoes.
