              parallel lines

              When you travel by train, have you observed the railway track?

              It looks like two straight lines  which  never meet at any point and

              extended endlessly. It is an example of parallel lines.

              Thus,  the  lines  which  lie  in  the  same  plane  and  never  intersect  are

              called parallel lines.

              Look at the two lines  PQ  and  RS  shown alongside.
              If we extend these lines on both sides, we find that they do                    P                Q

              not intersect, even when we extend them to any extent.
