Perspective means viewing or drawing 3D objects on 2D surfaces showing the impression
of length, width, depth, distance, etc.
Viewing 3D objects is different from viewing 2D objects. It is because 3D objects have one
more dimension, the height (or depth) but can be represented on 2D surface (plane) that
has 2 dimensions, length and breadth.
Thus, there is a mismatch between the representation of 3D objects in 2D and 3D.
In our daily life, we observe that as we move farther from the object it looks smaller.
For example, a tall tree looks smaller when seen from a distance and looks taller when
seen from close by.
Bigger angle
Smaller angle
Also, a big aeroplane looks like a bird when seen flying in the sky.
Terms related to perspective
There are some important points or terms that help us to understand how perspective
(one point) drawings give smaller appearance of objects from farther distance and how 3D
objects look realistic when drawn on 2D shape.
