Learning by Doing
Objective: To explore the concept of average of two or more numbers or
quantities.
Materials required: Square paper, 3 different colours, sketch pen, cello
tape and pair of scissors.
Procedure:
Get into the pairs.
Take a square paper and cut paper strips of 2, 7 and 12 squares.
Colour the strips in 3 different colours.
Join these 3 strips with the help of cello tape to make one long strip.
Fold and cut the long strip into 3 equal parts.
Now, count the number of squares of each strip.
Here, each strip is 7 squares long.
So, the average of 2, 7 and 12 is 7.
Repeat the activity with other pairs to find the average of other numbers.
